Disinfection Systems:
WSI has developed a unique line of disinfection options including UV sterilization and ozone generation. Using these systems, the challenges of industrial water systems and wastewater reuse can be achieved.
UV Sterilization
High output, medium pressure, germicidal UV lamp arrays for microbial disinfection.
UV light is ionizing radiation with wavelengths between 1-400 nanometers. At a 254 nanometer wavelength, enough energy is present to ionize certain molecules. This is especially effective at destroying organic molecules such as sugars, proteines, nucleic acids and cell lipids. Due to the propensity to interact with nucleic acids and cell lipids, UV is a highly effective biocide. When UV is used for disinfection, no active residuals remain in the treated effluent.
WSI designed a proprietary method of air-cooling the UV lamp to maximize efficiency and lamp life. All WSI UV systems are designed around a UV module that maximizes UV transmittance by minimizing travel length through effluent. UV modules are combined to meet specific flow rate requirements.
Ozone Generation Systems
WSI manufactures corona descharge ozone generators with outputs from .2lbs/day to over 80lbs/day.
Ozone is a strong oxidant that is highly effective at destroying bacteria and viruses. Ozone also destroys synthetic organic chemicals including many pharmaceuticals and endocrine distupters found in wastewater effluents.
Ozone is generated by corona discharge where an electric field splits oxygen molecules and recombines them into ozone molecules. WSI designs and manufactures a variety of ozone generators for applications ranging in capacity from 0.5 lbs/day to 80 lbs/day.
Advance Oxidation Processes (AOP)
Integrating both UV and ozone treatment technologies with the addition of hydrogen peroxide to eliminate difficult contaminants.
WSI can engineer and design complete potable water treatment facilities combing UV and ozone technologies with hydrogen peroxide to yield highly destructive radical species. These systems are effective at oxidizing a vast majority of organic compounds indluding synthetic organic compounds.
These systems can either be installed as stand-alone units, or as part of one of our packaged units.
