Fiber Ball Filter:
The Fiber Ball Filter media is used to polish the secondary effluent and to produce tertiary quality recycling water. In the filtering mode, secondary effluent is introduced to the filter. The wastewater flows through the filter medium and is then discharged from the filter. The suspended particles attach themselves to the media and are left on the filter material layer.
Dissolved Air Floatation: (DAF):
What is a WSI DAF? The WSI DAF (Dissolved Air Floatation) unit is responsible for the separation of TSS (Total Suspended Solids). (See drawing to the right.)
A major advantage of using a WSI DAF unit over a traditional settling clarifier is that the very small or light particles, which settle slowly by gravity, can be removed more completely and in a shorter time period while using a smaller footprint than existing settling clarifiers.
Biological Chip Reactor (BCR):
Passing through an Anoxic reactor the effluent flows by gravity into the BCR. Within the reactor, the effluent is treated by an aerated process. Normal oxygen levels in the reactor range from 2-4 mg/l. The reactor is filled (40%) with a plastic media.
This media promotes biological growth, allowing the reactor to carry an extremely high biological loading. Normal reactors carry a biological loading of 2,000-3,000 mg/l. By adding this media we increase the biological loading to 8,000-12,000 mg/l. This allows us to reduce the reactor space required by a normal biological process by a factor of as much as four. See example of Bio-Carrier Media above.
WSI plants are designed to produce R1 Water under Title 22 water for the State of Hawaii and the State of California. This means that every piece of equipment we choose for your plant is already approved by these states under these water reuse guidelines.
